Our Story
Africa is undergoing an unprecedented digital expansion. While connectivity offers immense opportunities for economic growth and democratic engagement, it also exposes societies to weaponized disinformation, digital surveillance, and shrinking press freedoms. Traditional media models are collapsing, leaving a dangerous void in public accountability.
Media and Digital Institute (MDI) stands at the intersection of media, technology, and democracy in Africa. This vision has shaped our approach since 2022, and in 2026 we are building two continental initiatives that will shape us into the future: the Africa Digital Forum and Institut Des Métiers Du Digital (IMD). We are not just responding to technological disruption—we are shaping it. By equipping African journalists with futuristic digital capabilities, advocating for policy reforms, and protecting digital public spheres, MDI transforms systemic vulnerability into sustainable democratic strength.
